A few months ago I went to Japan. These are a few of my sketches...
The first thing I noticed on the train ride from the airport to Tokyo was the mixture of old Japanese design combined with modern living. Like traditional style roofs on old dumpy apartment buildingsThen in Tokyo everything is compact and dense. People on the train are quiet and polite. No talking on cell phones as that would be rude. Everyone is busy texting or sleeping. Everything is clean and well kept. People care about more than just themselves.
A couple of workers trying to get people into their store.
Most of the above sketches were drawn in Shibuya. Kind of the time square of tokyo. Lots of high end fashion. You're either dressed super trendy and modern or you're a stuffy business man.
These are a few people I saw on tv.
Everyone we met there was super nice. Special thanks to Tomo and Yuko who we stayed with most of the trip, and who showed us around. Also to Tomoko who made an awesome illustration for me and Beau and gave us each a super cool gift. To Kuni, who had us over to his home near mt. Fuji. And Chihiro for being awesome. And a thanks to a few of the other artists we met along the way, Miki, Kage, Tom, Midori, and Taka.
